Three categories of crude oil are the conventional crude oil, heavy crude oil and tar sand bitumen. The International Energy Agency (IEA) stimulated that heavy oil represents at least 50% of the recoverable oil resources of the world. Heavy crude oil is not economical to be processed. The highly viscous fluids with complex composition will give impact to the transportation and refining processes. There have been substantial applications to overcome problems encountered in downhole lifting and pipeline transportation of crude oil.
WESTFLOW D series present the viscosity of crude oil depression by emulsifying the crude stream with small dose of reducer and diluent such as produced water. The fundamental technique renders a rheological behavior to justify the viscosity depression efficiency. WESTFLOW D Series can achieve its superior performance at low dosage (typically range 100-5000ppm) in a neutral or caustic solution. Specifically, its main function is to significantly reduce the bulk viscosity of heavy oil, thereby to improve the oil mobility in formations, production wells and also surface transportation pipelines. Besides function as a viscosity reducer, also WESTFLOW D can also be an emulsifier, wetting agent and Interfacial Tension (IFT) reducer which all contribute to enhanced heavy oil recovery, production and processing. Its wide compatibility with brines and other chemicals in oil field operation and good stability towards elevated temperature and salinity assure its extensive applicability in various conditions.
